ABOUT THE COMPANY:
JustSaving is an exciting new social enterprise striving to empower and motivate people to make simple pro-environmental behaviour changes in a novel and innovative way.
JustSaving provides a new form of charitable giving, replacing cash with action, specifically carbon-saving actions. By using the viral nature of sponsorship and the peer-to-peer learning power inherent in social networks, JustSaving will be able to get proactive carbon-saving ideas to audiences that traditional environmental campaigns really struggle to engage. So far JustSaving has been run by Hermione Taylor, supported by a great group of advisors, but momentum is building fast and it is time to expand the one-woman team. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to get involved in a very promising start-up that has the potential for huge social impact and incredibly rapid expansion.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
Support is currently needed in two key areas; this may take the form of one or two positions, depending on the candidates’ suitability.
- Relationship development and marketing: Fine-tuning and implementing the marketing strategy for the launch of the site, which will go live this summer. This will involve writing press releases; developing relationships with environmental groups & networks; building partnerships with sponsorship events (e.g. marathons & cycle rides); developing marketing materials for individuals, schools, and business; writing guest blogs; and supporting Hermione with sales and customer support.
- Launch Event coordination: Several bespoke sponsorship events are planned to take place during the summer of 2010 to kick start the launch of the site and support is needed in getting these fun plans off the ground. The role will involve helping to finalise plans; finding a venue; managing suppliers; marketing the event; recruiting volunteers; and co-managing the event itself.
Aside from these core areas, the roles will also support Hermione in shaping strategies and playing an integral part in developing JustSaving.
ABOUT YOU:
The ideal candidates must have:
- Enthusiasm, drive and determination to help this exciting project to succeed;
- A demonstrable interest in sustainability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Good time management and organisational skills;
- Understanding of the issues surrounding behaviour change and communicating climate change issues.
- Strong IT skills
And experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Marketing
- Public events (sporting and sponsored events)
- Third sector organisations
- Fundraising
Each post will be two days a week, but could be combined into one position depending on your suitability. Hours/days are negotiable, and at this stage the work is on a voluntary basis.
